giant mobile device manufacturers the world from South Korea , Samsung
and LG , reportedly is developing antimaling function on mobile phones
and tablets made by them .
Wall Street Journal launched , Wednesday, August 28, 2013 , advanced features that appear to reduce the number of gadget theft is on the rise in South Korea , as well as globally .
Armed with that feature, both Samsung and LG with mobile operator can lock a stolen smartphone and tablet . Thus, the device can not function though it changed hands to thieves , even if the SIM card or the operating system is compromised .
Ministry of Science , Technology Planning Future Communications and South Korea claimed , had discussed it with burglar function both companies . It is said that the features can be introduced to the public around the beginning of next year .
According to data from South Korean National Policy Agency , the number of thefts of smartphones increased more than four-fold , which is 457 percent . Last year , the number of burglaries recorded 31 075 cases , the number increased from 5,575 cases in 2009 .
Theft rate can also be seen from the data of the Korea Customs has blocked efforts penelundupan 1887 smartphone abroad last year . That number soared 10-fold from 2010 which recorded 131 phone smuggling attempt .
South Korean government describes , most smartphones are stolen directly smuggled abroad . Because , after changing hands alias stolen , the phone can not be registered by domestic operators .
Because of this , the two companies made antimaling feature is expected to be a sniper stance to prevent theft happening again . Features that were planted on the operating system and can not be removed . In order for the advanced features that function , the user must register the device first.
