Ubuntu Touch Officially Launched October 17, the Android Nexus First goto
Wishful thinking to experience the super-sophisticated in Ubuntu Edge smartphone may be over. But, the dream of combining your phone with a PC computer life continues. Ubuntu Touch, a variant of the Ubuntu operating system for mobile devices developed Canonical finally ready to be released. Canonical announces Ubuntu Touch will be unveiled on October 17 in conjunction with Ubuntu Linux 13:10.
"Currently we are exactly one month before the release of the Saucy Salamander (Ubuntu 13.10)," said Nicholas Skaggs, coordinator of community QA mailing list Ubuntu Phone. "As part of these releases, Ubuntu committed to providing the image of Ubuntu-Touch, ready to be installed to the device that is supported."
"In just four and a half weeks, 1.0 phones will come true!," Said Loic Minier, Technical Architect Canonical.
In February last through the CES 2013, the Touch version of Ubuntu developers have demonstrated on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Basically, Ubuntu Touch can be regarded as a small version of the Ubuntu OS. However, Ubuntu Touch can "change" as the full version as the PC monitor when connected to the device.
Ubuntu image file Touch version 1.0 will be available for download starting next month. Initial devices that are ready to run the OS is a Nexus device: Samsung Galaxy Nexus (maguro), LG Nexus 4 (mako), Asus Nexus 7 (grouper), and Samsung Nexus 10 (manta).
