Blackberry Loss nearly U.S. $ 1 Billion
Ottawa: Blackberry , Canadian mobile phone company , announced a loss of U.S. $ 965 million , during the period June to August this year .
" We are very disappointed with the operational and financial performance this quarter , " said Thorsten Heins , president and chief executive of Blackberry , Friday ( 27/9 ) .
Heins added that the company has announced a series of major changes to address these issues .
According to Heins , the best existing business model to market hardware Blackberry which so far has not been fully accepted by users .
" There are things that cause uncertainty , but we still have a financially healthy with fresh funds U.S. $ 2.6 billion , no debt , " said Heins .
Companies that used the name Research In Motion has previously warned investors that the performance in this quarter will not be exciting because of sluggish sales of the new series of smart phones .
Acceptance in the three month period ended August 31 reached U.S. £ 1.6 billion , down 49 % from the previous quarter .
Blackberry announced this quarter that they sent 5.9 million units of smart phones .
Apple on the other hand managed to sell 9 million units of the new iPhone , the iPhone and the iPhone 5S 5C , in just three days .
The loss was announced a few days after receiving purchase offer Blackberry Fairfax Financial , which is known as the largest shareholder Blackberry .
