CALIFORNIA - Group researchers recently revealed , the shape of the universe is different than previously thought . The researchers investigated the major anomalies in the afterglow of the Big Bang to show the structure of space and time .
Reported by FoxNews , Friday ( 09/13/2013 ) , recent studies have revealed that the universe has a curved shape like a saddle . Said to resemble curved saddle , where the object is moving parallel to another object will veer away after a great distance away .
Even so , there is an explanation for this anomaly . Scientists say , the universe may have collided with another universe shortly after the Big Bang or may arise due to statistical chance .
The researchers began to notice the anomaly almost a decade ago when researchers analyzed the cosmic microwave background , and the heat released shortly after the Big Bang . Scientists studying the fluctuations of hot and cold spot in the cosmic microwave background to learn more about the structure and evolution of the universe .
Data from NASA's Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe ( WMAP ) , launched in 2001 suggest that the universe may be ' skewed ' , where the hot and cold is located on one side of the cosmos ( the universe ) .
The data from the Planck satellite , which was launched by the European Space Agency in 2009 also support this theory . " Anomaly observed in the cosmic microwave background is interesting . They ( the universe ) may be just a statistical coincidence , but they may be an indication of new physical processes in the early universe , " said researcher Andrew Liddle , a cosmologist at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland .
Cosmology studies have recently shown that this anomaly occurs because the universe is not flat . The researchers suggest the universe may have a little ' open ' , that is curved like a saddle .
" Rays of light in a curved universe appears to follow a curved path . They follow the shortest line in curved space , such as the following aircraft when flying in a large circle around the Earth , " explained the researchers .
