Colleagues opposed Japan, Sharp Clear Embraces Samsung

Sharp technology company reportedly has suspended talks with Samsung the company formed a partnership that will sell copiers, Wednesday (08/28/2013).

Kyodo news agency reported, this step is done after other Japanese company Sharp has expressed concern and opposed the cooperation plan.

During this time, the manufacturer of photocopiers from Japan perform cross-license the patent copier technology. They worry that the core technology from falling into the hands of copier Samsung of South Korea, who is currently on the rise.

Copier market share globally dominated by Japanese companies such as Canon, Ricoh, Konica Minolta, and Sharp. They, together with Xerox company from the United States, accounts for about 80 percent of global sales of copiers.

Although stuck in the copier business, Sharp will continue talks with Samsung to supply components washing machine and fridge.

Previously, Samsung instead intends to acquire a business unit of Sharp copiers. However, the Sharp rejected the offer.

Partnerships Samsung and Sharp have started long ago. In March 2013, Sharp received investment funding from Samsung for 112 million U.S. dollars to develop business-screen liquid crystal display (LCD) for smart mobile devices and televisions.

With that amount, Samsung has a three percent stake Sharp and largest shareholder fifth overall in Sharp. It also makes the Samsung as the company's largest shareholder Sharp is not a financial institution.
