Microsoft Rumored Targeting Foursquare

Technology companies Microsoft is in talks to invest in the social networking company Foursquare. Bloomberg business media reported on Thursday (08/29/2013), the conversation between the two already in the advanced stages.

However, between the two may not necessarily come to an agreement. Because, Foursquare was looking for other alternatives that are considered potential to invest in his company.

Microsoft's intentions to invest in Foursquare is based on the desire to strengthen the social networking services on mobile devices. If Microsoft can invest, the company expected to integrate its Internet service with Foursquare.

In addition to Microsoft, the service provider American Express credit card was allegedly also interested in investing in Foursquare.

To Reuters, a spokesman for Foursquare, Brendan Lewis said, "The news is more appropriate in the category of rumor and speculation." A spokesman for Microsoft declined to comment.

Foursquare was founded by Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai in March 2009. According to Bloomberg, Foursquare has a debt of around 41 million U.S. dollars in April 2013 to support the operational costs.

This pioneering company has not found the right business model, and are trying to take advantage of more than advertising.

Foursquare provides location-based social networking services. Enabled users to check-in to mark his arrival at a place. Foursquare is also used for a media campaign and a place to leave messages and advice to businesses restaurants, cafes, hotels, shops, to shopping centers.
