Akamai Technologies , cloud computing platform , today published Internet Condition reports Fourth Quarter of 2012 . According
to the report received by headline , May 6, 2013 , the average global
connection speed increased by five per cent quarter-on- quarter to an
average of 2.9 Mbps today .
Furthermore , 98 countries / regions who meet the qualifications to increase Internet speeds , ranging from 0.1 per cent as was the case in the Netherlands and Luxemburg , up to 23 percent in Côte d'Ivoire , Africa .
With each passing year , the average connection speed increased 25 percent , where nine of the top 10 countries are still experiencing growth in the fourth quarter of 2012 .
From nine countries , it is known simply Netherlands ( 3.3 % ) , Hong Kong ( 5.4 % ) , and Japan ( 19 % ) who experienced growth below 20 percent from 2011 to 2012.
Global peak connection speed increased by an average of 4.6 percent each quarter to 16.6 Mbps . Hong Kong once again become the country with the most high- speed Internet connection , that is equal to 57.5 Mbps , up 6.2 percent from the previous quarter .
What about Indonesia ?
Based on observations of Akamai , the average growth speed of connections each year in Indonesia reached 86 percent , with the highest average speed of each quarter by quarter increased by 21 percent to 1.4 Mbps .
While the average Internet speed to a global scale has increased significantly , which amounted to 35 percent .
Use of global broadband ( > 4 Mbps ) and high broadband ( > 10 Mbps ) respectively increased by 2.7 and 2.1 percent in the quarter . Own level of global broadband usage jumped to 42 percent , while high broadband fixed in 11 percent .
